Navigating Crisis

FROM THE TREASURER | CHRIS MELLINI | THE CROWNE PLAZA CONCORD

As we continue to work through these challenging times, we must look forward to the positive outcome that will result from the effort of everyone in Concord. A special thanks to all our Contra Costa First Responders and the risks they take every day to keep us safe. We must also remember our hotel teams and thank them for their support.

In short, take care of your family, friends and neighbors. A helping hand will be remembered as we continue to build a stronger community together!

COLLABORATIVE MARKETING

The Visit Concord team began to shift much of our focus to community support. We worked closely with the City and the Chamber to create a unified front and consistent messaging for the community through our website, social media channels, eblasts, newsletters and industry publications. We worked continuously to support our hotels, restaurants, businesses, non-profit organizations, first responders and essential workers. We have provided easy access to county health orders and updates on our website and established a complete reopening guide with the most current business and travel information. These efforts have served to build on a positive public image and establish Visit Concord as a leader within the city, and as well as a destination.

WHY TOURISM MATTERS

It is probably fair to say that most people don’t realize how much tourism directly impacts our local economy. The pandemic has affected virtually all of our hospitality and tourism related businesses including hotels, restaurants, transportation, shopping, entertainment and attractions, not to mention jobs. But, we do know that tourism is among the most resilient of all economic sectors and people will start traveling again when the time is right. Now more than ever, we must continue to look, think, and act forward.

SHAPING RECOVERY

As we join our Bay Area neighbors in the reopening process, the safety and well-being of our residents and guests remains our top priority. Our local restaurants and businesses are certified in advanced commercial sanitation and safety protocols, and all nine Concord hotels are now “Clean & Safe” certified according to California Hotel & Lodging Association specifications and open for leisure travel. We continue to work closely with local government agencies to stay informed and in compliance with all current health and safety orders to prevent the spread of disease.
