Every now and then a diamond is found in the rough. Chopan Kabob is nestled unassumingly on Monument Boulevard amid tire and auto repair shops, but don’t let that dissuade you. Inside, you will find a small but cozy space adorned with murals and an attentive staff that serves up authentic Afghan cuisine.

Chopan offers Halal meats and juicy kabobs of lamb, beef and chicken. On the table, you will find an assortment of condiments to pair with your meals. Spicy red and mild green chutney, dried pomegranate powder and cayenne sit in bottles and jars.

A basket of flatbread baked in a stone oven and drizzled with sauce will fill up your stomach as you’re waiting for your order. In addition to kabobs, Chopan serves up wraps with succulent tender meat — fragrant with spices and wrapped in tandoori flatbread — as well as appetizers and house specials.
