Celebrating 50 Years of the Toyota Pavilion

As February unfolds, we’re stepping into a year of celebration, nostalgia, and new beginnings at the Toyota Pavilion in Concord.

This legendary venue has been a cultural hub since 1975, bringing world-class performances, community events, and unforgettable moments to the Bay Area. Now, as we mark its 50th anniversary, we’re gearing up for a season of special events, historic reflections, and exciting surprises.

A Legacy Built on Sound & Storytelling

The Pavilion’s journey is as dynamic as the artists who have graced its stage. Originally designed by Frank Gehry, with breathtaking landscapes shaped by Peter Walker, the venue has transformed over the years while maintaining its essence as a gathering place for music lovers and creatives alike. From legendary rock concerts to today’s chart-topping performances, it has been the backdrop for countless memories, shaped by both artists and the audience.

This milestone isn’t just about looking back—it’s about honoring the partnerships, innovations, and people who have kept the Pavilion thriving. Long-standing collaborations with brands like Toyota, Sleep Train, and Live Nation have helped shape its evolution, ensuring it remains a vibrant space for entertainment and community connection.

A February of Creativity & Inspiration

Beyond the anniversary, this month has been filled with encounters that celebrate artistry in all its forms. I had the privilege of meeting some of the most influential photographers and creatives, individuals whose work has captured the energy of live performances and the essence of cultural icons.

Hearing stories from photographers who have immortalized Tina Turner, Stevie Nicks, and many other performers in music, we were offered a glimpse into the magic behind the lens. Their images do more than document moments—they tell stories, preserve history, and evoke emotions that transcend time.

These conversations also highlighted the evolution of visual storytelling, from film photography in the '70s to today’s digital innovations. The intersection of music and photography is a testament to how creativity continues to push boundaries, something that deeply resonates as we embark on a year of celebration at the Pavilion.

What’s Ahead in 2025?

With a full calendar of events, exclusive behind-the-scenes stories, and a lineup that promises unforgettable performances, this anniversary year is shaping up to be extraordinary. Whether you’ve been part of the Pavilion’s journey for decades or are discovering it for the first time, there’s something special waiting for you.
