A totally unique date is a tour of the murals around Concord. In The Veranda Shopping Center, Cost Plus honors its hometown with a large painted map of Concord on the store’s wall. Take a look and then grab drinks or dinner at one of the many choices The Veranda offers.
One of the most popular murals is on Salvio Street. Hand-painted by Bay Area Muralist Dan Fontes, it depicts a 4th of July street scene in 1894 inspired by an album of Ruth Galindo’s, grand daughter of Concord’s founder. While you’re here you can catch drinks, dinner or coffee in Downtown Concord!

Two more murals are in Oak Grove Plaza including an eye catching piece inside Trader Joe’s featuring the iconic Mt. Diablo, Concord Pavilion and Todos Santos Plaza. Behind the center is a colorful mural that immediately grabs your attention with its splashes of colorful paint spilling out of three cans. It was created to honor Oak Grove Plaza founder David Zimmerman by his daughters. Here you can also dine, drink and chat at one of the plaza’s fine establishments.

3. Stroll through the Markham Arboretum Nature Center and Picnic

The Markham Arboretum and Nature Center is a hidden gem in Concord and the perfect place to impress your date with a stroll and picnic.
